Boarding at The Hamilton and Alexandra College

The chance to be immersed in your passions, challenge your thinking, and develop life-long friendships.

Boarding is a unique opportunity for students, and our boarding community is made up from regional, rural, metropolitan and overseas communities.

Our boarders live at the heritage-listed Myrniong campus, where they enjoy warm pastoral care, structured routines, and supervised study.

Boarding Opportunity

The Hamilton and Alexandra College boarding houses are set among the beautiful lawns and rambling gardens of the heritage-listed Myrniong Homestead Campus. Boarders have a wonderful opportunity to make the most of the wide range of co-curricular activities on offer at the school throughout the term.

Boarding life is full, and students are actively involved in after-school activities that run into evening prep, as a boarding community or as a House. Each term there are house dinners, Duke of Edinburgh activities, Run Club, Equestrian, Tennis, Netball, Football, and numerous sports training sessions before and after school.

Many of our College Captains and prefects are boarders, who benefit from our Leadership Course in Year 11 or their participation in the Boarding Committee, whilst younger boarders are supported through the Life Skills and hobbies programs in Year 7-9.

Casual Boarding

The Hamilton and Alexandra College also offers casual and short-stay boarding for families whose needs change.

Students can stay in the Boarding House for a short period with a definite purpose, such as rehearsals outside of school hours, academic tutoring in the evening, or early morning commitments, such as rowing, swimming or music lessons. Students can benefit greatly from a casual boarding opportunity, allowing them to participate fully in co-curricular activities at the school. This can also be particularly beneficial when considering a transition to full-time boarding.
