Senior School
Senior School at
The Hamilton and Alexandra College
Year 10 - Year 12
The Emerge program for Year 10-12 students recognises that senior students are developing into young adults, and are beginning to take increasing responsibility for their own lives and learning, whilst being carefully guided by experienced and caring teachers.
Year 10
At Year 10, the core curriculum (English, Maths, Science, PE, and Health and Wellbeing) is complemented with an additional 20 periods chosen from diverse subject offerings, including VET courses and VCE subjects. Our team of senior staff work closely with students, their mentors, and parents/guardians to help them select the best course of study.
Year 11
In Year 11 and 12 we teach the VCE. Year 11 students continue their study of English and take on an additional five subjects, with some students accessing VCE Unit 3 and 4 subjects. In Year 12, students usually study English and an additional four Unit 3 and 4 subjects, as well as participating in a broad extra-curricular program.
Year 12
From Year 11, students attend small group and individual sessions with The Hamilton and Alexandra College’s dedicated careers practitioner to begin discerning their post-school path. In Year 12, these meetings work towards confirming university course selection and assisting with the application process. The Hamilton and Alexandra College has special relationships with universities, and with some of Australia’s most sort-after residential colleges.
Senior staff actively work with students to help guide them through all of these tough and exciting decisions.
