Music at The Hamilton and Alexandra College

We want to give all our students the finest possible musical education and experience. We firmly believe that music is for all, and for all of life. To educate musically is to confer one of the greatest gifts we can to the young.

Instruments

Students can take individual tuition on a wide range of instruments, including:

Piano
Voice
Violin, viola, cello, double bass
Flute, clarinet, saxophone
Trumpet, French horn, trombone
Guitar, bass guitar

Students have the opportunity to perform in a variety of ensembles, including:

Junior School students:
- Pizzicato Strings
- Chamber Singers (auditioned)
- Choral and instrumental ensembles
Middle School and Senior School students:
- Jazz ensembles
- Concert Band
- String Sextet
- Kantor Players
- Male Voice Choir
- Female Voice Choir
- Festival Voices Choir (auditioned)

Music is at the heart of The Hamilton and Alexandra College, a fact woven into our history and culture. And one illustrated by each year’s hotly contested and always sold-out House Music competition.
